$20 Makeup Challenge- a collab with Valentina!!

Hey guys!

As some of you may know Valentina of Valentina Sofia and I are best friends, and she’s actually the person who helped me decide to start my blog. So when she asked me if I wanted to collab on a $20 challenge post I was super excited.

Before we set ourselves loose on the cosmetics section, we set a few rules:

  1. Our price limit was $20 before taxes
  2. We would be creating a look with the items for this post, and we would use only the products we purchased
  3. We could use brushes from our existing stashes to create the look.

So before she left for her vacation, we invited her sister to come with us and we headed out to Walgreens!

Trying to decide which color I needed for my brows.

I immediately gravitated toward Wet ‘N Wild because the entire line was 25% off and they are already very inexpensive and have a wide enough variety so I could get everything I needed. I also wanted to make sure that everything I purchased would be something I could add in to my collection and actually make use of.

The goods before we made our way to checkout.

By taking advantage of the 25% off deal with Wet ‘N Wild, I was able to get way more bang for my buck than I had bargained for!

From left to right: Mattifying Powder, Megalength Waterproof mascara in Very Black, Color Icon Kohl Liner Pencil in Taupe of the Mornin’, MegaLast Lip Color in Rose Bud, Fergie Collection Eyeshadow Palette and Eyeshadow Primer, and CoverAll Cream Foundation in Fair- All products from Wet ‘N Wild

For everything pictured, I spent $18.57 after taxes. After seeing my total I was a little disappointed in my choice to skip out on bronzer or blush.

MegaLast lip color in Rose Bud  I bought this shade because I knew it would be pulling double duty and this shade seemed to be the most flattering for both lip and cheek. I had also heard a lot of great things about this formula.

Fergie Center Stage Collection eyeshadow in Camouflage Cutie The gold highlight shade from the eye palette also made an appearance on my cheek bones. This was not my best idea of the day as it turned out to be just denser packed chunky gold glitter. The formula on the rest of these was okay at best. They were all fairly chalky, but they blended out really well and you could hardly tell that they were less than stellar in the pan once they were on the eye.

Fergie Collection Eyeshadow Primer This primer came in a set with the eye shadow. Good amount of product, neutral tones, but was very thick and greasy no matter how much I tried to blend it in to my eyelids.

MegaLength Waterproof mascara in Very Black The mascara was the best thing that came out of the challenge because for $2.99 I have found my new holy grail mascara. That’s right. This stuff is so amazing it has replaced my tarte gifted mascara.

ColorIcon Kohl EyeLiner in Taupe of the Mornin’ The eye kohl was used for the brows. It was a touch too light for me, but wore well and didn’t smudge.

Mattifying Powder The powder worked well to set the foundation, but contains a very large amount of micro glitter. It would be better for setting the under eye for a brightening effect rather than the entire face in my opinion.

CoverAll Cream Foundation in Fair I found at least one redeeming quality in everything I didn’t care for except for this foundation. It didn’t cover very much, and no matter how much I buffed it with a brush or went over it with my beauty blender, it was splotchy and laid heavily on my skin. I didn’t even attempt to build up coverage on the scar on my nose.

This is the look I created with everything.

I had to remove my makeup after about 3 hours because I broke out all over my face. Before I took it off, I noticed that my eyeshadow had worn off considerably and also creased. So the eyeshadow primer and foundation went straight to the trash can, but what remains will be well used in my collection.

Head on over to Valentina’s blog to check out her $20 Challenge post!

  2. I’ve tried that CoverAll Cream Foundation and I didn’t like it at all. It broke me out too and smells bad.
Well done with getting all the loot for under $20 though! πŸ™‚ So great you found your new HG mascara for only $3! Did you end up liking the lipstick?
